![]() In business, it is vital to have strong English abilities and be able to articulate and organize your thoughts on your feet. This course has a large amount to do with my major because I am currently on the path to attend the College of Business my junior year. This course also taught me about the different types of rhetoric used in all pieces of writing: ethos, pathos and logos. After this course, I should be able to focus on a purpose, respond to the benefits of different audiences, adopt appropriate voice, tone, and level of maturity, and write in several genres. For each paper, we spent a class trading and evaluating each other’s work. In addition to working to improve my own writing abilities, I also participated in workshops in order to improve my peers writing abilities. I wrote three separate papers in which I worked specifically on writing in vivid detail, including dialogue in my work, and writing a memoir-styled collection of experiences. This class also fulfilled one gordon-rule requirement. ![]() The purpose of taking this ENC 1101 course was to enhance my writing abilities and fulfill my pre-requisites for my major.
